Stile Tread Replacement in Plumpton

After replacing a repaired sign on Lodge Hill in Ditchling we went to TQ3622118336, i.e. Plumpton where ther was a 15 year old stile with a rotten and wobbly bottom step up Footpath PLU6.
It was removed and a replacement step. made also of oak was nailed in place.

Then we went to TQ3799115052 in East Chiltington where many ECH45 & ECH38 meet Bridleway ECH34 meet at Wooton Farm. Just a few metres down ECH38 a further stile, of an even older design had four dodgy steps, not so rotten but worn thin and worryingly flexible.
These we also removed and replaced with new oak. We hope the two stiles with no-longer-decayed treads will continue in use for at least another decade.
